There seemed to be something special about Amtrak Locomotive 145 that was involved in a passenger train crash with a dump truck west of Crozet, Virginia.

The 145 locomotive is a favorite among railfans because it is a Heritage unit painted in one of Amtrak’s former paint schemes, known as a phase II scheme.

The Heritage locomotive has a black hood over the cabin and wide Red, White and Blue stripes along the front and side of the locomotive.
