What size drill bit for a 3/8 inch 3-inch deck screw

What size drill bit for a 3/8 inch 3-inch deck screw - Google Search

UPDATE: Here's a real world answer for using a 3/8-inch x 4-inch deck screw. The project was the reinforcement of a 4'x8' homemade beer pong table that was being converted to an outdoor workbench and garden table.  A 1/4" drill bit was used to make a pilot hole through a tabletop 1-inch overhang lip edge into a 4" x 4" table leg. Drilling was smooth and driving the black lag bolt screw with a hex top with a ratchet wrench was also smooth. During tightening a level was used to make sure the tabletop was level and the table was level perpendicularly. Each leg will probably have four lag screws to tighten up the security and strength of the table.

The search results were not especially helpful because the screws were referred as a number instead of a measurement. There was superfluous information about threads per inch that wasn't needed. The screw box container didn't even mention threads per inch (TPI). The biggest help was making the pilot hole slightly smaller than the lag screw dimension.
